'Harry Potter' 시리즈를 재미있고 감명 깊게 보았던 한 사람으로서 스핀오프 작인 'Fantastic Beasts' 시리즈의 색다른 매력을 느끼면서 계속 후속작을 기다려왔지만 역시나 기대가 크면 실망도 큰 법이랄까.. 거기다 주연 배우들의 탈도 많고, 말도 많은 소식까지 전해지면서 영화는 안팎으로 매력을 잃어가기 시작했다.

원래는 총 5부작의 시리즈로 계획되어있었던 'Fantastic Beasts'는 영화의 저조한 성적이 계속되면서 앞으로의 두 편 제작 여부는 불투명해졌다고 한다. 확실히 영화의 주체가 제목처럼 동물들이 되어야 하는데 여러 서사를 시리즈에 담아내면서 무엇하나 제대로 보여주지 못한 채 배우들의 뛰어난 연기에도 영화는 산만해지고 아쉬움만이 가득한 결과를 가져오게 되었다.(특히, 3편에서는..!)

이럴 바에는 'Fantastic Beasts' 서사를 1~2편 분량으로 간결하게 마무리하고 'Dumbledore'와 'Grindelwald'의 이야기를 새로운 시리즈로 제작하는 것이 더 나았을 것이라는 많은 의견에 깊이 공감하는 바이다.
