Episode #01. Heirs of the Dragon

"(in High Valyrian) I wonder if, during those few hours my brother lived, my father finally found happiness."

"(in High Valyrian) Your father needs you more now than he ever has."

Episode #02. The Rogue Prince

"The object of your ire, the reason that you were disinherited. If you wish to be restored as heir, you'll need to kill me. So, do it. And be done with all this bother."

"저 때문에 계승권을 잃고 노여워서 이러시잖아요. 다시 후계자가 되고 싶다면 그냥 절 죽이세요. 어서요. 여러 사람 귀찮게 하지 마시고요."

Episode #03. Second of His Name

"I came here to hunt.. not to be suffocated by all this fucking politicking."

"난 사냥을 즐기러 왔는데.. 온갖 정치 공작 때문에 숨이 막힐 지경이야."

"Find one that pleases you, as I did. Rhaenyra.. I did waver at one time. But I swear to you now, on your mother's memory, you will not be supplanted."

"내가 그랬듯 네가 원하는 상대와 혼인하거라. Rhaenyra.. 나도 흔들렸던 적이 있다. 하지만 네 어머니를 걸고 맹세하마. 후계자를 바꿀 계획은 없다."

Episode #04. King of the Narrow Sea

"Give me Rhaenyra to take to wife and we will return the House of the Dragon to its proper glory."

"내가 Rhaenyra를 아내로 맞이하면 드래곤의 가문은 옛 영광을 되찾을 거야."

"Of course. It's not my daughter you lust for, is it? It's my throne."

"그럼 그렇지. 네놈이 노리는 건 내 딸이 아니라 내 왕좌였군."

Episode #05. We Light the Way

"Have you at last come to consummate our marriage? The Vale's sheep might be willing, even if I'm not. Our sheep are prettier, after all."

"드디어 첫날밤을 보낼 생각이 들었나요? Vale의 양이라면 동침해 줄지도 모르죠. 난 아니지만요. 어차피 나는 양보다 못생겼다면서요."

Episode #06. The Princess and the Queen

"I had a black mare once. Black like a raven. One day, she escaped her pasture and the neighboring stallion sired a foal on her. The stallion was as silver as the moon on a winter's night and the foal, when it was born, chestnut. Just the most unremarkable brown horse you ever saw. Nature is a thing of mysterious works."

"예전에 까만 암말을 키웠는데 까마귀처럼 검었지. 어느 날, 그 말은 목장에서 탈출해 이웃 수말의 새끼를 배었어. 겨울밤 달처럼 몸이 하얀 수말이었지. 그런데 둘 사이에 난 망아지는 밤색이었어. 어디서든 흔히 볼 수 있는 그런 말이었지. 자연의 이치란 신비로운 거야."

"How do you know? The silver stallion. How do you know it was him? Did you witness the act itself?"

어떻게 알아요? 그 망아지요. 그 백마의 새끼가 확실해요? 교미하는 걸 직접 보셨나요?"

Episode #10. The Black Queen

"The Night's Watch will ride in force against the wildlings, the White Walkers and whatever else is out there. And we will find Benjen Stark, alive or dead. I will command them myself. So I'll only ask you once, Lord Snow.. Are you a brother of the Night's Watch or a bastard boy who wants to play at war?"

"솔직하게 얘기할까? 나도 그때 14살이었지. 너와 같은 나이였어. 칠왕국의 여왕이 될 준비가 전혀 되어있지 않았지만 내 의무였기 때문에 피할 수 없었지. 그리고 점차 깨달았어. 자격은 스스로 갖춰야 한다는 걸."

'Game of Thrones'의 프리퀄이자 'A Song of Ice and Fire' 시리즈의 외전 소설인 'Fire & Blood'를 원작으로 하는 드라마. 본편 시점에서 200여년 전 'Westeros'에서 일어난 'Targaryen' 가문의 왕위 쟁탈전을 배경으로, 'Rhaenyra' 공주를 지지하는 '흑색파(The Blacks)'와 'Aegon' 2세를 지지하는 '녹색파(The Greens)' 사이에서 발생한 내전 'The Dance of the Dragons'를 다루는 게 가장 큰 배경이다.(다른 대륙인 'Essos'가 나오지 않아 아쉬울 따름)

내전임에도 스케일이 어마어마한 이 드라마는 드래곤을 다루는 'Targaryen' 가문의 이야기가 중심인지라 드래곤들의 웅장함과 불을 내뿜는 모습을 통해 시각적인 재미를 느낄 수 있는 반면에 'Game of Thrones' 못지않은 잔인함과 야한 장면들도 거리낌 없이 볼 수도 있다. 그리고 시즌 2가 2024년으로 내정되어있고 시즌 1도 재미있게 본 만큼 그 마무리도 본격적으로 무언가를 보여줄 듯이 끝나버린지라 다음 시즌 2가 벌써 기대가 되고 또 기다려진다.(최종 시즌 마무리가 'Game of Thrones'처럼 처참하지 않기를 바랄 뿐)
