'Paranormal Activity' 영화 시리즈는 나도 예전에 1편을 찾아본 기억이 있어 실화에 살을 덧붙인 줄로만 알고 인상이 깊었었는데, 최근에 이 영화가 생각나 다시 찾아보니 실화가 아닌, 실화처럼 연출된 페이크 다큐멘터리(Fake Documentary) 영화였다는 것에.. 글쎄다, 실망보다는 조금 색다른 느낌이 들었다.

그래도 초저예산으로 제작되어, 캠코더 화면을 통해 보이지 않는 존재의 현상을 사실적으로 묘사해 엄청난 흥행을 거두면서, 시리즈가 꽤나 길게 제작되었다는 것을 알고 1편부터 차근차근 찾아보게 되었다.(나름 스토리라인도 구성되어 있고..)

초반에는 많은 이들이 그랬듯 다른 공포물과는 다르게 서서히 조여 오는 듯한 느낌, 그리고 그렇게 길지 않은 영화의 러닝타임은 신선하고 몰입이 잘 되었으나, 시리즈가 진행될수록 식상한 느낌이 드는 건 어쩔 수 없었나 보다.. 갈수록 살짝 억지스러운 설정 느낌이 들기도 했고 말이다.

회수할 떡밥은 아직 남아있는 시점에서 리부트 느낌의 'Next of Kin'을 마지막으로 접하면서 조금 이질감을 느꼈는데, 앞으로 나올 예정인 8편은 어떤 내용을 담고 있을지가 궁금해진다.. 실망을 안겨줄지 아니면 다시 흥미를 가지게 해 줄지.. 그래도 오랜만에 즐겨본 1인칭 시점의 색다른 공포물이라서 좋았다.
