"첫 회에 Bradley 씨가 shrike의 비밀을 밝혀내자 다음 해 복귀 무대를 준비했어요. 금고 안에서 스스로 족쇄를 차고 강물 속으로 던져졌는데 다신 떠오르지 못했죠."

"You mean he died?"

"죽었단 말입니까?"

"I didn't kill him. He killed himself trying to do something he wasn't prepared to handle."

"내가 죽이지 않았네. 감당 못할 일을 하다 스스로 죽은 거지."

"이 일에 처음 끼어들 땐 당신이나 당신 다이아몬드에 전혀 관심 없었거든. 근데 이제 아주 사적인 일이 되어버렸어."

'Now You See Me'는 예전부터 마술에 관련된 영화로 명성을 떨친 바 있어 나도 오래전에 1편을 찾아보았던 기억이 난다. 얼마 전에 얼핏 보니 3편까지 개봉이 되었고, 4편도 준비 중이라고 하여, 찾아보는 계기가 되었다.

1편이 흥미를 충분히 불러일으켰던지라, 2편도 기대를 많이 했었지만 억지로 끼워 맞춘 듯한 설정들이 여기저기 보여 아쉬운 느낌이 있었다. 또 하나.. 2편에서 1편의 여주인 'Isla Fisher'가 갑자기 안보여, 하차 이유를 찾아보니 실제로 임신을 하여 불가피하게 출연이 고사되어 아쉬웠는데, 다행히도 3편에서 다시 볼 수 있게 되어서 좋았다.

개인적인 총평은.. 영화상에서도 표현되었던 'Robin Hood' 느낌의 마술 영화로, 오락적인 면에서는 준수한 편이라는 생각이 든다. 정확히는 모르겠지만, 다가올 4편도 3편에서처럼 세대교체를 위화감 없이 잘 소화해 낼 것인지가 궁금해진다.
