"If I die tonight, was it worth it? You've done this before. You must have thought about it."

"오늘 내가 죽으면 가치 있는 죽음일까요? 당신은 경험이 많으니 생각해 봤을 거잖아요."

"This makes it worth it. This. Right now. Being with you. Being here at the moment you step into the circle."

"지금도 가치 있는 겁니다, 바로 지금요. 이렇게 당신이 합류하는 순간도요."

"Propaganda will only get you so far. You need a radical insurgency you can count on."

"선전은 한계가 있습니다. 반란을 이용하셔야 합니다."

"Count on for what?"

"어떻게?"

"Ghorman 반군이 악수를 두면 됩니다.."

Episode #02. Sagrona Teema

"This is good news, Dedra. Ghorman will be yours to run as you wish. You'll only answer to Krennic and he's got no time for anything but results. Ghorman is a gift. Take it. Then win it."

"잘된 일이야, Dedra. Ghorman은 자네 식대로 주무르면 되고 Krennic에게 보고만 하면 돼. 오직 결과만 중시하는 사람이지. Ghorman은 선물이야, 받아. 그리고 성공시켜."

"Joy has no wind at its back. Joy will not announce its arrival. You need to listen for it, and be mindful of how fleeting and delicate it can be. But search out these treasures."

"기쁨은 살금살금 다가오며 소리 없이 찾아오기에 세심히 살펴야 하지. 게다가 어찌나 잃기 쉽고 순식간인지.. 그래도 이 보물을 찾거라."

Episode #03. Harvest

"Look at me. Nothing on the other side of that door matters. Not the guests, not the gifts, not the.. trouble that's gone into it, none of it matters. Money, embarrassment, pressure.."

"날 보렴, 저 문밖의 어떤 것도 중요하지 않아. 하객도 선물도 그동안 들인 수고도 하나도 중요하지 않아. 돈도 창피함도 부담감도.."

"Wha... What are you saying?"

"무.. 무슨 말이야?"

"We can walk out there right now, tell them all to have a lovely afternoon, but that it's not yet time for a marriage. We can put it off. And it will be remembered as an act of great bravery, I promise you. You do not have to go through with this."

"나가서 이렇게 말해도 돼. 즐거운 시간이었지만 결혼은 이르다고.. 미뤄도 돼, 다들 용감하다고 할 거야. 장담할게, 억지로 이러지 않아도 돼."

Episode #04. Ever Been to Ghorman?

"You didn't kill that boy because we're at war. You killed him because he saw my face."

"전쟁 중이라서 그 애를 죽인 게 아니라 내 얼굴을 봐서 죽인 거잖아."

"What's the difference?"

"뭐가 다른데?"

"I don't know. But if I'm giving up everything.. I want to win. We have to."

"나도 몰라. 하지만 모든 걸 포기해야 한다면.. 난 이겨야겠어. 반드시 그래야 해."

Episode #05. I Have Friends Everywhere

"If I say this is the greatest day of my life.. does it spoil everything?"

"내 인생 최고의 순간이라고 말하면.. 입방정 떠는 걸까?"

"It's good to see you happy."

"행복해하는 걸 보니까 좋네."

"Remember this. Remember this moment! This perfect night. You think I'm crazy? Yes, I am. Revolution is not for the sane. Look at us. Unloved. Hunted. Cannon fodder. We'll all be dead before the Republic is back and yet.. here we are. Where are you, boy?"

"지금을 기억해라, 지금 이 순간을! 이 완벽한 밤을. 내가 미친 거 같나? 그래, 미쳤지. 혁명은 제정신으로 이룰 수 없어. 우리를 봤잖아, 버림받고 쫓기는 총알받이 신세. 공화국이 돌아오기 전에 모두 죽겠지. 그런데도 여기 있어, 넌 어디 있나?"

Episode #06. What a Festive Evening

"Think about a planet like Ghorman in rebellion. A planet of wealth and status."

"Ghorman 같은 행성이 합류한다고 생각해 봐. 부와 지위가 있는 행성 말이야."

"And.. if it goes up in flames?"

"불바다가 되면요?"

"It will burn.. very brightly."

"어둠을 밝히겠지."

"We.. We are not droids, Luthen."

"우리가 무슨 드로이드예요?"

"We are not who we were when we started. Bix has to pull it together. Or you will have to decide at what point it becomes too large a problem."

"우리는 예전의 우리가 아니야. Bix가 정신을 차리지 않으면 언제 문제가 될지는 자네가 정해야 해."

"There's no place to hide. Look at me. I'm not going to say remember this, because I don't have to. This is on you now. This is like skin. You're taking her with you wherever you go for the rest of your useless life."

"숨을 곳이라곤 없어, 날 봐. 평생 기억하라는 말을 내 입으로 할 필요는 없겠지. 이제 네 책임이야. 평생 지고 살 짐이지. 네 하찮은 인생은 항상 그녀와 함께일 거야."

Episode #07. Messenger

"I came here to thank you, Mon. Your constant courage. The brave face you put to the world. I've done a poor job letting you know how much I admire your grace.. and energy. Protect yourself."

"고맙다고 말하고 싶었어요, Mon. 한결같은 용기로 정의를 위해 나서 주었죠. 당신의 선의와 열정을 존경한다는 걸 말하지 못했어요. 몸조심해요."

"We are the Ghor! We are the Ghor.. If they take that from us then what's worth saving?"

"우린 Ghor야! Ghor라고.. 그 자긍심을 뺏긴다면 더는 싸울 가치도 없겠지."

"I sense the weight of things, things I can't see. Pain, fear.. need. Most beings carry the things that shaped them. They carry the past. But some.. very few.. your pilot.. They're gathering as they go. There's a purpose to it. He's a messenger. There's some place he needs to be. Have you known him long?"

"난 무게를 느껴요, 눈에 안 보이는 것들요. 고통, 두려움.. 욕구. 보통 자신을 형성한 것들을 짊어지고 살아요. 과거를 짊어지고 살죠. 하지만 극소수의 사람들은.. 저 비행사처럼.. 살면서 새롭게 쌓아 가요. 거기엔 이유가 있고요. 저 사람은 전령이에요. 자리가 마련되어 있는 사람이죠. 오랫동안 알았나요?"

"I don't remember not knowing him."

"아주 어릴 때부터요."

"Maybe you're the place he needs to be."

"당신이 그 자리일지 모르겠네요."

Episode #08. Who Are You?

"Hey, I hope things work out for you."

"무사하길 희망할게요."

"Rebellions are built on hope."

"반군에게 희망 빼면 남는 게 없죠."

Episode #09. Welcome to the Rebellion

"I make my own decisions."

"내 운명은 내가 만들어요."

"Is that what you've been doing? Sometimes, I wonder. You appeared when I needed you. Aldhani. Narkina. Ferrix. Sienar. Mina-Rau. Ghorman. And here we are."

"지금껏 그래 왔다고? 가끔, 궁금해. 자넨 내가 필요할 때 나타났지. Aldhani, Narkina, Ferrix, Sienar, Mina-Rau, Ghorman 그리고 여기까지."

"Of all the things at risk.. the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest. This Chamber's hold on the truth was finally lost on the Ghorman Plaza. What took place yesterday.. What happened yesterday on Ghorman was unprovoked genocide! Yes! Genocide! And that truth has been exiled from this Chamber! And the monster screaming the loudest? The monster we've helped create? The monster who will come for all of us soon enough.. is Emperor Palpatine!"

"그 어떤 위험보다도 실존하는 현실의 부정이 가장 위험할지 모릅니다. 진실의 죽음은 악의 궁극적인 승리입니다. 진실을 잃으면 진실을 무시하면 진실을 빼앗기면 우린 가장 목소리가 큰 괴물의 먹잇감이 될 겁니다. 이 본회의장이 지키던 진실은 Ghorman 광장에서 결국 사라졌습니다. 어제 있었던 일은.. 어제 Ghorman에서의 진상은 명분 없는 대량 학살이었습니다. 그래요, 대량 학살이었습니다. 그 진실은 이곳에서 묵살당하고 있죠! 가장 큰 소리로 울부짖는 괴물은.. 우리가 탄생을 도운 그 괴물은.. 곧 우리 모두를 집어삼킬 그 괴물은 바로 Palpatine 황제입니다!"

"I'm not sure.. how to thank you."

"잘 모르겠네요.. 이 빚을 어떻게 갚아야 할지."

"Make it worth it."

"이겨서 갚아 줘요."

"My love. You're sleeping now. You look so peaceful. I wanna be brave, but I can't. If I was brave, I would stay and do this in person.. but I know you and you'd just talk me around, and I've been thinking about this too long to let that happen. I have to leave. I have to go away. I'm not sure where or for how long, I just know that I can't stay here with you now. I believe what you said. It is a choice. It just can't be me. I can't be the reason you leave here. If you ever gave this up for me, I'd never forgive myself. We have to win. We have to beat them. And I believe you have purpose in making that happen. I need to believe that. So, I'm choosing for the both of us. I'm choosing the Rebellion. And when it's done.. when it's over.. and we've won.. we can do all the things we ever wanted. Everything we'd know we've missed. I'll find you."

"내 사랑. 넌 지금 자고 있어, 아주 편한 얼굴로. 용기를 내고 싶었지만 못 했어. 그랬다면 여기 남아서 직접 말했겠지만 결국, 네가 날 설득했겠지. 오랜 고민 끝에 결정한 거니 그럴 수는 없어. 난 여기 있으면 안 돼. 멀리 떠나야 해. 어디로 갈지 얼마나 걸릴지도 모르지만 지금 너랑 함께할 수 없다는 건 분명해. 네가 했던 말이 맞아, 이건 선택의 문제야. 근데 그 선택이 내가 될 순 없어. 네가 떠나야 하는 이유가 내가 되어서는 안 돼. 네가 나 때문에 모든 걸 포기한다면, 나 자신을 용서 못 할 거야. 우리는 이겨야 해, 제국을 막아야 해. 너도 목적이 있잖아, 난 그렇게 믿고 싶어. 그래서 우리 둘을 위한 선택을 할 거야. 난 반군을 선택하겠어. 그리고 모든 게 끝나고.. 우리가 이기면.. 우리가 원했던 삶을 사는 거야. 우리가 놓쳤던 모든 걸 되찾는 거야. 내가 널 찾을게."

Episode #10. Make It Stop

"The building is surrounded. You're finished."

"여기는 포위됐어, 당신은 끝장이야."

"And you're too late. The rebellion isn't here anymore. It's flown away. It's every where now. There's a whole galaxy out there waiting to disgust you."

"너무 늦게 왔어. 반군은 떠난 지 오래야. 은하계로 퍼져 나갔지. 이제 은하계 전체가 혐오스러워지겠군."

"We fight to win. That means we lose. And lose and lose and lose.. until we're ready. All you know now is how much you hate. You bank that. You hide that. You keep it alive until you know what to do with it."

"싸워서 이기려면 질 줄도 알아야 해. 무수히 패배하면서 싸울 준비가 되는 거야. 지금은 그 증오만 기억하면 돼. 가슴에 칼을 품는 거야. 목표를 찾을 때까지 칼을 가는 거지."

"You need to pay attention. Life shows us what we stand to lose. Most people look away. We can't be like that. Look at me. You need to accept what you're leaving behind."

"내 말 잘 들어라. 살다 보면 잃을 것들이 눈앞에 보이지. 대부분 고개를 돌리지만 우린 그래선 안 돼. 날 봐라, 우린 포기해야 하는 것들을 받아들여야 해."

Episode #11. Who Else Knows?

"How terribly perplexing. How does one balance such passionate competency with the mindless decision to confront Luthen Rael.. on your own?! If you're not a rebel spy, you've missed your calling."

"영문을 모르겠군. 그렇게 열성을 다하는 인재가 Luthen Rael을 혼자 잡겠다는 경솔한 선택을 했을까? 독단적으로! 반군 스파이가 아니라면 직업을 잘못 택했군."

"You can run him down all you want.. but the truth is, none of this would be here without Luthen. None of this."

"Luthen을 욕하시려면 얼마든지 하세요.. 하지만 Luthen이 없었으면 우린 여기 없었어요. 여기 자체가 없었겠죠."

"You owe him that."

"Luthen한테 그 정도는 해 줘야죠."

Episode #12. Jedha, Kyber, Erso

"When I say I know Luthen.. I mean I know the good and the bad. I know what was wrong with him. I had a front-row seat on that, and I made my choice two years ago, to join here and be part of this. But none of that can take away what he did and how hard it was. I don't know if what he was told is true or not. But it's insulting to hear him run down by people who have given a fraction of his sacrifice to this Rebellion!"

"전 Luthen을 잘 압니다. 그의 장단점을 압니다. 문제가 많은 사람이었죠.. 그건 누구보다 잘 알아요. 그리고 난 2년 전 결심했죠. 여기 합류하기로요. 하지만 누구도 그의 유산을 부정할 순 없어요. Luthen이 들은 얘기의 진위는 몰라요. 하지만 그를 깎아내리는 건 못 듣겠군요. 당신들은 그의 희생을 흉내도 못 내요!"

"He always used to say.. 'Know your way out before you go in.'.. I don't even really know where I am."

"Luthen은 자주 그랬죠.. '들어가기 전에 빠져나올 길부터 봐라.'.. 내가 어디 있는지도 모르겠어요."

"I have friends everywhere. You're here with friends."

"친구는 여기저기 많아. 우린 친구들이랑 있는 거야."

2025년 4월에 방영된 'Andor' 시즌 2는 나에게도 그렇고 대중들에게도 보란 듯이 기대를 저버리지 않았던 드라마였다. 특히, Ghorman 학살이 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'로 이어지는 스토리가 호평받았고, Ghorman 대사를 체포하는 장면은 매우 현실적이고 인상 깊게 연출해, 현실 역사 속 사건들이 연상된다는 평도 있었을 만큼 깊이가 느껴지는 부분도 있었다.(덕분에 다시 한번 'Rogue One'을 찾아보는 계기가 되기도..)

그래서 시즌 3도 많은 이들의 요청이 있었지만, 자연스럽게 스토리가 'Rogue One'과 이어지다 보니 시즌 2를 끝으로 막을 내린 듯 보이는데.. 내용이 아쉬워서가 아니라 드라마가 재미와 깊이가 느껴져서 아쉬운 마음이 드는 건 참 오랜만인 듯하다.

앞으로도 'Star Wars'의 드라마와 영화는 계속해서 새로움으로 다가오겠지만.. 지금 전해져 오는 이 감정과 이 재미는 오직 'Andor' 드라마에서만 느껴지는 것이리라 본다.
